Google Updates: Queries and Call Buttons

Google has made several updates to Google Business Profile (formally Google My Business) listings recently. An update to Google Insights now means you can see what keywords people are using to find your business. Per Google, these queries are “The most popular queries for your business by unique users.”

This appears to be a useful upgrade to Insights. They are currently only showing results for 1 month and 1 week, but they seem to surface the kind of detail that has been harder and harder to find from Google:

Google Adds Call Buttons to Posts

Another upgrade: Google is now allowing you to add a “Call Now” button as the call-to-action on a Google Post. Previously, it only allowed you to add a link to a page on your website.

It currently defaults to the primary phone number you have set in Google Business Profile (formally Google My Business) , so it doesn’t allow you to use a unique tracking number (darn!). I also found it fascinating that Google prompted me to leave a review after I clicked the call button on mobile.
